The first Sunday of each month of the year, the squares and alleys of the old town of Rutigliano host the traditional market of antiques and collectables. An impressive set of stands and stalls where you can browse among antiques and knickknacks on the lookout for a good deal; an unmissable event for lovers of art and collectibles.
Every year since 1965, in September it renews the traditional Grape Festival of Rutigliano, an event aimed at promoting the production of table grapes, typical of Rutigliano.
A large number of visitors spills out in the alleys of the old town among the food stalls of local associations and colorful lights. The “Giant Bunch” award rewards the grower who has been able to produce a unique cluster based on weight. A long-awaited concert concludes the event, featuring famous singers performances in Rutigliano square.
Terracotta whistles fair
The week of St. Anthony Rutigliano comes alive with the Whistle fair. The whistles are handcrafted products made of terracotta and hand painted with vibrant colors. This tradition every year attracts many artists, fans and curious that, besides admiring the numerous stalls with beautiful handworks, will attend the traditional blessing of animals, visit the Museum of the terracotta whistles and taste the typical delights of the place, prepared by many food stands.
Together to fair, takes place the whistles national contest, which involves every year pottery artists and artisans from all over Italy: their achievements are exhibited during the Festival, until a jury decides the winner.
