Rutigliano is a small chest with a treasure worth discovering. The historic centre is a maze of narrow streets lined with buildings of great historical and architectural interest, such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria della Colonna and San Nicola, with its rare Apulian Romanesque bell tower, and Palazzo Settanni with the Educational Museum of History and Sacred Art. In the ancient town you can admire the beautiful 30-meter-high Norman Tower, the last of the four once existing, which is auxiliary to the Norman Castle. Finally, you can’t miss the Terracotta Whistle Museum, which is really important for the city since it preserves the historical tradition of terracotta art and the production of handcrafted whistles.
